HIMSS Analytics Honors Children's Hospital Boston with Stage 7 Award
CHICAGO (December 7, 2010) - HIMSS Analytics announced Children's Hospital Boston received its Stage 7 Award. The hospital will be recognized at the 2011 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 20-24, 2011 in Orlando, Fla. The award represents attainment of the highest level on the EMR Adoption ModelSM(EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. As of November 2010, HIMSS Analytics had recognized 52 hospitals, or 1 percent of the more than 5,000 hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database, with its Stage 7 Award.

HIMSS Analytics Names First South Korean Stage 7 Hospital
CHICAGO (November 22, 2010) - HIMSS Analytics announced Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) has reached Stage 7 on the EMR Adoption ModelSM or EMRAM scale. It is the first hospital outside of North America to achieve the Stage 7 designation, and the only hospital in Asia to do so.

HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO OVERLOOK CRITICAL GAPS IN DATA SECURITY, ACCORDING TO NEW BI–ANNUAL REPORT
NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 21, 2010) – As the healthcare industry prepares for a major shift to electronic health records (EHRs) over the next several years, a new bi-annual report provides data that shows that providers are still having difficulty adequately securing patient data in a rapidly changing landscape. The 2010 HIMSS Analytics Report: Security of Patient Data indicates that healthcare organizations are actively taking steps to ensure that patient data is secure. However, these efforts appear to be more reactive than proactive, as hospitals dedicate more resources toward breach response vs. breach prevention through risk management activities. Most U.S. Hospitals within Two Steps of Having Essential EMR Tools in Place
CHICAGO (April 2, 2009) — With the Medicare and Medicaid incentives for health information technology use announced, almost 70 percent of U.S. hospitals are only two steps or less away from having the health IT applications necessary to deliver the likely objectives of ‘meaningful use’ for the electronic medical record, according to the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM). While only six percent of hospitals report comprehensive adoption of health IT applications often associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), EHR criteria (major ancillary department information systems, clinical documentation, computerized physician order entry and clinical decision support), 67 percent need to add only one or two of these applications to have this threshold of EHR functionality available for their clinicians’ use.

The 15 hospitals are part of two integrated delivery systems:  Kaiser Permanente, based in Oakland, Calif. with 12 hospitals, and NorthShore University HealthSystem, based in Evanston, Ill. with three hospitals.

HIMSS Analytics Enhances Data Mining with New Navigation Tools
CHICAGO (January 26, 2009) - HIMSS Analytics announces the release of an enhanced user interface and new features to the HIMSS Analytics Database that offer easier navigation to detailed demographic and information technology (IT) data on healthcare providers.  The expanded criteria for standard database reports gives users greater flexibility when mining data because they can sort by and combine more information, such as facility types, specific geographic locations, and bed ranges.
