Market Research
Sr. Director, Clinical & Business Intelligence
HIMSS has a new position for which it is now seeking to fill on our Market Research team. The purpose of this new position is the creation and operation of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). This position is responsible for developing a funding research program within HIMSS Analytics focused on these topics and for creating and executing this program. This position assumes financial responsibility, accountability, and project management, making day-to-day decisions necessary to achieve the approved strategic and tactical activities for this area within the budget guidelines.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Develops and executes HIMSS strategic and tactical activities for all clinical and business intelligence. Develops initiatives and works with other HIMSS staff to achieve business unit goals.
- Conducts secondary research.
- Develops primary research data collection tools (e.g., interview guides, survey questionnaires); conducts primary research interviews with technology end users and suppliers (e.g., interviews, analysis of survey responses); solicits and attends vendor product briefings.
- Generates ideas for research offerings and creates and articulates the value proposition of the research to sponsoring organizations. Authoring research program deliverables (e.g., writing research reports and newsletter articles; preparing webinar and other presentation materials).
- Hosts and conducts webinars. Presents and speaks at local and national events such as national conferences and local HIMSS chapter meetings.
- Client contact – provides consulting and advisory services.
- Business development and supporting sales of research program deliverables.
- Responsible for ensuring that all employees reporting to them directly or indirectly understand the importance of complying with the internal control objectives of the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in one of the following disciplines: Business or Healthcare Administration, Public Health; Nursing or similar clinical discipline; quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, physical science); Masters degree preferred or equivalent experience; A minimum of five years in healthcare IT, split among provider, vendor and consulting organizations; experience should include exposure to hospital operations, clinical and financial principles; Possesses decision support, clinical management, and clinical business intelligence skills, knowledge, and experience – The candidate is required to have a minimum of two years healthcare –related experience with enterprise data warehouses, data marts, data mining in either the payer or provider sector; Experience with both payer and provider data management and business intelligence is highly preferred; Demonstrates proficiency in professional public speaking and professional writing – The candidate must possess strong writing skills; A public relations background with experience in annual report writing, speech writing, and article creation plus a research background of producing white papers is required. In addition to professional writing, the candidate must have a strong public speaking background; Excellent consulting and business development skills; Possesses industry-recognized thought leadership sense – The publications must be created by a recognized highly credible, thoughtful, author who understands the nuances faced by the hospital C-suite. The candidate needs to understand the perspective of providers, payers, and vendors with respect to data management, decision support, and business intelligence; Demonstrates the ability to generate ideas for research offerings and create and articulate the value proposition of the research to sponsoring organizations; Critical thinking skills; ability to synthesize, express and defend, in both spoken and written form, broad conclusions about the future direction of health IT technology adoption based on experience, marketplace knowledge and current industry trends and regulatory environment; an understanding of global, as well as domestic trends is highly desired, as position will also serve as an advisor to HA Europe and HA Asia staff; Technical knowledge of software product architectures, software development principles and software product management, particularly with respect to analytics-related products; Knowledge of hospital workflow, operations, and financial principles and patient care processes and terminology; In-depth understanding of federal health IT legislative and policy initiatives.

Sales
Senior Director, Sales
HIMSS has a fantastic opportunity on our HIMSS Analytics Sales Team. The Senior Director of Sales oversees the sales department personnel and goals. This position generates prospects through marketing and cold calling campaigns, achieving sales goals, managing departmental budgets, and consultative sales support. R evenue generation is for a variety of product lines, with primary database sales. This all includes negotiat ions with clients on product purchases. This position will also m anage a team of four salespersons generating annual sales of approximately $6MM.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to develop prospects for all HIMSS Analytics’ products to achieve corporate objectives. Define sales goals and budgets for department and sales staff. Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Develop proposals, contracts, reports, and customized communications. Collaborate with other staff to develop marketing and sales communications.
- Identify good prospect lists and conduct marketing and cold call campaigns to generate interest in products. Ensure that prospects requests for information are completed in a timely fashion. Persuades prospects of value proposition in order to sell products.
- Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible market share. Contribute input into new processes and products to enhance value to clients.
- Review and analyze sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness. Manage and provide support to sales personnel to achieve sales goals.
- Adhere to all contracting policies.
- Perform special projects as needed such as the Annual Conference planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of prior sales experience and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience. The ability to think critically, develop a plan and implement a solution. Strong communication skills need to influence and close sales. Excellent interpersonal skills – The ability to respond and work with a wide range of personality types internal and external to the organization. Strong knowledge of database products. Must have excellent product knowledge to be able to answer questions and respond to a wide range of inquiries. Strong writing and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Self-starter who takes initiative and can apply creativity to solutions. Flexibility of character that is comfortable with ambiguity. The ability to create structure to effectively manage priorities and achieve goals. Goal oriented, and driven to succeed.
